Changes to Canadian Trade-marks Regulations
As an update to an earlier post, the Trade-marks Regulations under Canada’s Trade-marks Act have been amended. Some of the amendments are in force as of June 2, 2007 and some do not come into force until October 1, 2007. We’re pleased to see the revised Regulations include an amendment to the rules relating to service of documents between parties to opposition proceedings. The amendment expands the current rule of service by registered mail or personal service to include use of courier services and other means as agreed by the parties. As well, amendments concerning the granting of extensions of time at various stages of opposition proceedings are also included.
